Hybrid of lemon and orange, originally from China, like most citrus varieties, although it is known in the West for more than 100 years ago, it has not become popular until recently.
Flowering and new shoots, reach a typical purple colour. It blooms twice a year, and its fruits ripen between November and May.
Both the size of the tree and its fruit are medium in size, less than other lemons, and the very fine and thin skin, sometimes forming a slight neck in the stem area. Its fruits are moderately acidic and sweeter than other lemons, good juice content and with an aroma and flavour that makes it the favourite of many chefs.

Despite its excellent properties, and its enormous popularity reached during in the United States, South Africa and New Zealand, is still very difficult to find on the shelves of European supermarkets, because it is very delicate handling, storage and transport, causing numerous injuries in the fruits. Nor easily reaches its yellow colour in conventional colouring stores.
